STATEMENT
The moment when a horse is falling, when it is lying on the ground, there is nothing more contradictory or engaging. Fallen, a series of oil paintings on canvas, document the moment when power and control fail. Proving what the rider and horse already know: neither participant is in control.Their relationship to each other and to the environment they exist in is precarious.
Removing the focus from the pageantry of racing, and placing as much emphasis on the subject as on the environment. Horse, rider, and spectators are all equal participants.
